LinkedIn Ghostwriter

Hi everyone. My name is Dan. I live in the United States. I'm 70 years old. I retired from my job last year, and in May, 2026 I started a business trying to make some extra income for my retirement years.

I have about 24 years of experience in the internet marketing world. I've written a ton of e-books and sold them online. I'm a copywriter, a writer, and a Ghostwriter on LinkedIn. However, I haven't made any money yet, and I've been doing it for 5+ months, so I'm kind of disillusioned. I was planning on making some money within my first 90 days.

I'm doing really well on LinkedIn. I'm getting really good at writing posts, commenting on other people's posts, replying to comments on my posts, sending DM's and building connections and followers. I'm just struggling with that last step of how to actually land my first client, and that's why I'm here.

The main problems I'm having are:

I barely get any comments on my posts.
People aren't responding to my DMs after I connected with them.
People aren't signing up for a free 30-minute call through my Calendly link.
I'm not getting any in-bound communication requests anymore.
All of my discovery calls have come from in-bound connections, not from my outbound connections.

I have a lot to learn, still, obviously, but I also have a lot to teach. I have over 338,000 impressions in the past 5+ months. I'm approaching 149,000 members reached with my posts, approximately 70 posts. My top three posts have 89,500 impressions, 36,818 impressions, and 32,871 impressions. I have almost 1,700 followers and 1,363 connections. I have 1,185 profile viewers.

But I'm doing something wrong, obviously, because I haven't made any money. I have had about 8 discovery calls, but 4 or 5 of them turned out to be referral partners. All the other ones said they couldn't afford $3,000 a month for 12 posts a month, so I'm attracting the wrong people. I'm not attracting people with money who are serious about improving their business, and that's why I'm here. I need to make some major changes in my business.

My LinkedIn growth was flat for the first month. It didn't really start taking off until month two, which was in June, and it just kept going up and up and up since then. I've learned the value of building connections, building followers, building profile viewers, commenting on other people's posts, and connecting with my ICP.

Now, the problem is offering 12 posts on LinkedIn a month for $3,000 isn't going to get it done for my clients. They need to be doing what I'm doing if they want to see the growth that I've been getting, and I'm in a small niche, a very small niche. My clients need to build their followers, build their connections, comment on other people's posts, drive profile views, and send DMs to their ICP. Without doing all that, 12 posts a month is barely going to do anything.

My big question is: how am I going to get my first client to participate in doing all those other things that are necessary to build their presence on LinkedIn like I have? If I just offer 12 posts a month, their impressions and their reach are not going to take off. It's going to grow at a trickle, and then they'll fire me because I didn't help their business. What are we as Ghostwriters supposed to do as far as all that other important stuff that's necessary to do on LinkedIn to build a business?

I would do all that other stuff in addition to writing their posts, but I can't. The LinkedIn terms of service say you cannot access somebody else's account through their login and username credentials, so I can't run their account. Has anybody actually done this and gotten away with it? Or is there some other way I could run their account and reply to comments on their posts, post replies on other people's comments, send connection requests, and send DMs for them?
