Stillness & Silence Practice: Creating Space in Your Mind
When was the last time you experienced true silence — not just the absence of noise, but the presence of stillness?
In a world that constantly demands our attention, silence can feel uncomfortable at first. But with practice, it becomes a doorway — to peace, clarity, and deep connection.
Here’s a simple practice to invite more stillness into your mind
---
The Practice: “Listening to Silence”
1. Find a quiet place.
Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Let your body relax without trying to “do” anything.
2. Notice the sounds around you.
Don’t label or analyze them — just notice. The hum of the fridge, distant voices, a bird, your own breath.
3. Now, listen between the sounds.
Feel into the quiet spaces — the pauses. There is a subtle presence there, a sense of aliveness that doesn’t depend on noise.
4. Rest there.
Stay with that quietness for a few minutes. If thoughts come, gently return to listening to the silence itself.
---
Reflection
Afterwards, take a moment to notice:
How does your body feel now?
Is your mind a little quieter?
What does “silence” feel like — inside you?
---
Silence isn’t emptiness — it’s spaciousness.
It’s where everything important begins.
