What I’ve been thinking about lately is my dreams—and how funny it is that when you feel emotionally safe, old stuff will come up. For me, it shows up in dreams. And boy, do I dream—a whole lot. My dreams are like movies: full-color, recurring characters that appear in different sequences and forms. Often, they’re in first-person perspective, a lot like a Stanley Kubrick film. Dreams don’t necessarily mean anything; sometimes you’re just processing and putting away the library books. But it is jolting to have a dream about an old reality or a circumstance that couldn’t be.
