“Stop And Look For His Beauty”
“I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.”
~ Ecclesiastes 3:10-12 NIV
Stop for a moment and think about if you could go anywhere in the world to see something spectacular, it probably wouldn’t be a palace or temple, which humans built. But it would most likely be a beautiful spot God has created in nature. Condé Nast Traveler frequently posts articles on the most beautiful places on earth, and the pictures are stunning, like the Zhangye National Geopark in China, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and Angel Falls in Venezuela.
Most of us can’t visit those spots, but we can look out our windows everyday at the sky and see the marshalling of the clouds, the formation of a flock of birds, and the green variations in the grass and trees. We need to stop and be still to understand ourselves in the context of the vast universe our Heavenly Father has made for us. We can’t truly know who we are and why we’re here until we know God’s creation. He has made everything beautiful in its time, and He wants us to appreciate His artistry. We can know God better through His majestic creation. So this coming weekend try to spend some of your prayer time in nature or with a view of it, giving thanks to God for the beauty around you.
“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone, alone with the heavens, nature, and God.”
~ Anne Frank
“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” ~Isaiah 40:26 NIV
Amen…
