Ifá and its priests, known as Babaláwo and Ìyánífá, were the pharmacy. The midwife. The mortician. The doctor. Long before Western civilization arrived.
They maintained the mental, physical, and spiritual health of everyone in the community. A resource unmatched by any other cultural institution. Their work was measured by effectiveness, and they were revered because of their unwavering dedication to all who were in need of their service.
Our ancestors held a high standard. And it is a blessing for all of us to live up to the bar that has been set for every generation to come.
