Identity Pending is a community for people who grew up in tough circumstances and are still working out who they are outside of them.
I ran away at 16, spent 30 years abusing alcohol, not realising I was just doing what I'd been surrounded by.
Nobody sat me down and explained patterns. I had to find that out the hard way.
Eventually I broke the cycles. I went back to study, worked in mental health and disability support, and started writing.
That writing taught me more about who I was than anything else.
Identity Pending exists because I wished something like it had existed for me. A place to understand why you think the way you do, where the conversation is honest and the people are real.
