There is a difference between being stuck and being still. I’m learning that difference right now. A few days ago, I had major surgery. And for the next several weeks, my normal pace has to change. I can’t just get up and go because I have an idea. I can’t move at the speed my mind is moving. I can’t do everything my hands want to do. And if you know anything about me, you know my mind is always going.😂 There’s always another journal idea. Another book. Another experience. Another message. Another “Ooooh, I could do this…”. And wouldn’t you know it? Now that my body has been told to slow down, my mind has decided this is the perfect time to come alive. Ideas are coming. Thoughts are coming. God is speaking. I’m reflecting. I’m writing things down. I’m seeing some things differently. And yet, physically, I have to be still. At first, that can feel frustrating. Because when you’re accustomed to doing, stillness can feel like you’re falling behind. When you’re accustomed to producing, stillness can make you question whether you’re being productive. When you’re accustomed to helping everybody else, stillness can feel uncomfortable because suddenly you have to allow yourself to be cared for. And when you have a vision for what’s next, lying still can make you feel like you should be doing something to get there. But I’ve had to remind myself: Twyla, you are not stuck. You are still. And there is a difference. 💗 MANAGING ME MOMENT Maybe your stillness doesn’t look like mine. Maybe life has slowed you down in another way. Maybe you’re waiting. Maybe you’re between assignments. Maybe the door hasn’t opened yet. Maybe you know there’s more, but God hasn’t told you to move. So before you call yourself stuck, I want you to sit with this question: Am I really stuck…or could God be asking me to be still? Talk to me, sis. 💕
