I'm personally terrified of confrontation. (I'd lie and say otherwise, except for my fear of being called out and the resulting... confrontation.)
A while back, a selling partner taught me the phrase, "Sometimes friction is good." It was his go-to mantra whenever things were going sideways. Naturally, I never challenged him on it—because, you know, confrontation—but it stuck with me. I've thought a lot about the upside of friction: turning a negative into a positive, the power of a "Team of Rivals," and the value of opposing viewpoints.
In your experience, how has friction actually worked in your favor? What does "friction is good" mean to you, and do you buy into it?
