House of Suraj is a space for healthy escapism, a place to step out of the noise and reconnect with your body through pre-recorded tutorials, in-person London based group sessions, and private 1:1 training. Rooted in queer dance cultures and Global Majority experiences, we use movement as a tool for wellbeing, creative expression, joy, and collective care.
We honor dance as more than performance; it is memory, freedom, and connection. Community comes before competition, and the dance floor remains a place to breathe, belong, and grow.
Founded by Kumari Suraj, a globally recognized non-binary, multidisciplinary artist and educator, House of Suraj is shaped by over two decades of cultural leadership. Since retiring from public teaching, Kumari shares their archive of pedagogy and collected dance knowledge for study, practice, community connection, continued cultural understanding, and enjoyment.
