It’s the list of players you need to beat to get the minutes, role, or level you want.
And there are three steps most players mess up.
Step 1: Hunt
Study the players ahead of you.
What do they do well?
Where are they weak?
What does the coach trust them with?
Most players skip this step. They just “work hard” without direction.
Step 2: Kill
This is where the work gets intentional.
You don’t train everything.
You train what helps you beat them.
If they’re a better defender, you raise your defensive level.
If they’re stronger, you get stronger.
If they’re more consistent, you eliminate mistakes.
This is where separation happens.
Step 3: Eat
This is the lesson most players miss.
When opportunity comes…
When minutes increase…
When you have a good stretch of games…
You don’t get comfortable.
Most players eat first.
They get full on small success.
Then they coast.
Great players eat last.
They stay hungry even after they get what they wanted.
