Planting the seed... for 'help' around the house...
After a fantastic Homeschool Mastery Group call this morning, I was asked how I’ve been planting the seed. Here’s what’s worked for me this year with household chores (upon reflection there are way more things I could do/say better), and maybe just starting point for inspiration for anyone reading!: ➡️ I vocalised my daily tasks, modelling aloud what I do. ➡️ I used “responsibility” and “contribution” instead of “jobs” or “chores” (though my kids still prefer the latter!) ➡️ I’d say, “I wish I could play, but X task needs doing right now....” ➡️ I asked, “Want to help me finish X faster?” or said, “I’d really love some help with this.” ➡️ I didn’t expect their help but showed extra gratitude when they offered. ➡️ I let them choose their role as Chief Executive Officer and take charge of something they wanted!

Happy New Year 🎊 🎇
I’m praying this year is blessed, that your family is strengthened, that your confidence increases, and that your children thrive under the influence of loving and competent parents. May this community provide a need for you that you can one day pass on to serve someone else who finds themself where you once were.

Happy New Year 🎊 🎇
The most expensive part of a child’s education…
The most expensive part of a child’s education is trying to undo and correct problems that could have been avoided. When we get it wrong the first time we have to turn around and backtrack, before we can make progress forward. It not only costs us time but also money. It’s also likely to put strain on relationships. When it comes to homeschooling, an ounce of preparation is worth a pound of implementation. The most valuable thing you can do is avoid mistakes that you’ll have to walk back later. So if homeschooling just right, takes a while, requires consultation, keeps you up at night, or whatever other problem you can think of, then just know the effort will be worthwhile. Be sure that the work you put in will not be a cost but an investment, and the savings of avoiding doing it wrong would be hard to calculate. As we approach the new year, I look forward to boldly working together to avoid mistakes that will waste our limited resources and instead craft the perfect Homeschool program for our families. Merry Christmas!!!

Holiday Break Or No Holiday Break?
I've been speaking to parents and opinions vary: - Should we take a break from homeschooling for the holidays - Modify our routines, - Or press on like normal? There's no right answer, honestly, except that which makes sense for your family. Some parents find their kids go insane if they break the routine and try to restart, others find insanity comes by skipping the break they all desperately need. For me, I like a modified routine. We still learn together, but possibly adjusting expectations and centering different components of our learning around the Christmas season. This way we keep things fresh, but we don't overlook the change in rhythm that naturally occurs for us around Christmas and New Year's. What approach are you taking?

Holiday Break Or No Holiday Break?
🎯 Teaching With 1% Effort for 99% Results
The most impactful teaching skill I can share with you is this—and it generates huge results with minimal effort. Let me tell you a quick story for context 👇 MEET GIA🎀 This little lady is my daughter. She’s bright, curious, and turning 2 on New Year's Eve. Gia doesn’t have superpowers (though sometimes it feels like she does!). She’s a lot like most kids: 👀 Always watching. 👂 Always listening. And like all children, our words and actions are her teachers. A SURPRISE LESSON AT THE PARK🛝 To my knowledge, I never sat down and “taught” Gia to count. No formal lesson. No counting worksheets. But one day at the park, while I was pushing her on the swing… She started counting. All on her own. 🤯 (What you’ll see in this video is the second time she counted, and I just happened to catch it.) SO... HOW DID SHE LEARN? 🤔 It all comes down to our habits and routines. I’m constantly counting around Gia: 🧩 When we walk. 🛒 When I pick things up. 📚 When we see numbers in books. Without realizing it, numbers have become a natural part of our daily lives. Because of this consistent exposure, when Gia was ready—she counted. ✨ THE SECRET TO 1% EFFORT FOR 99% RESULTS 👉 Stop turning what you want your children to learn into giant, intimidating obstacles. Instead: ✅ Break those big goals into tiny, repeatable steps ✅ Weave those steps into your daily routines. When something important becomes a part of your everyday life, it transforms into something your children naturally pick up—and most importantly, won’t forget. WHY THIS MATTERS This is the exact approach I’ve used to teach the most important concepts—in the classroom, at home, and with families just like yours. Consistency is the key. And with small, deliberate steps, the results will follow. 🛠 READY TO TAKE ACTION? I’ve broken this skill down into bite-sized steps in my Routines Revamp Challenge. 🔹 Simple action steps you can take every day. 🔹 Documented, recorded, and ready for you.
