As I'm grading math tests for MS Math, Algebra 1 and Geometry today, I just wanted to let you know how I grade in case you want to do the same. I always grade the test and give a grade with partial credit for partially right answers (always -1 for failing to label). And then I let my kids fix any problems for half credit back. Obviously you can do it however you would like, but this seems to give incentive for understanding what they got wrong which is so important!

Just FYI, today we are doing an investigation and a lab, so there is no HW Session today. 🙂

As we're working our way toward the end of the our first unit, "How Science Works," it would be fun to get to see how scientists actually work. If you can, plan a visit to a working science lab or research facility. Arrange time to speak with an experimental or applied scientist. Search nearby universities, commercial labs, government research centers, zoos, hospital labs, or astronomical observatories. Call ahead to request a tour. Tell the host you want to learn how scientists design work so results stay reliable. Help your student come up with at least one thoughtful question about experiments, the scientific method, or research the scientist has done. They can ask that question during the visit!
