Thinking about getting into running? Or maybe you’re getting back into it after some time off? Here are 3 real tips to help you start strong — and actually enjoy the process:
1️⃣ Get the Right Shoes
Don’t just grab a pair off the shelf at a sporting goods store. Go to your local running shop and get properly fitted.
They’ll size your feet, watch your stride, and recommend the right shoe whether you’re running roads, trails, or something in between.
👉 The wrong shoes can make running miserable — trust me on that one.
2️⃣ Start Slow
If you haven’t run in a while (or ever), don’t lace up and go hammer out four miles on day one.
Start small. Even half a mile is a great beginning.
It took me years to build up endurance — it won’t happen overnight. Be patient, or you’ll end up sore, miserable, and injured.
3️⃣ Be Grateful
You can do this. And that’s a blessing.
Remember to thank God for the ability to move, breathe, and run — even if it’s just a quarter mile.
There are many who would love to, but physically can’t. Every step is a gift.
