New Year's Menu - Dec 29-Jan 3
Let's talk about identity and take these shifts into the New Year of 2026 -
Fill in the blank:
I'm/I have __________
- anxiety
- depression
- bipolar
- ADHD
- an entrepreneur
- an athlete
- overweight
- defined muscles
- ___% bodyfat
- make $____ per month
- done _____ in my past
- went through ________ and it was traumatic.
Some of these become our idols.
Some of these become our comfort.
So often we get caught up in making our labels, accomplishments, or characteristics define who we are, it's hard to think of ourselves as anything outside of that.
Don't let your identity rest behind a label.
If you've been with me for awhile, my business page has gone through several usernames and I even have multiple accounts because part of me always thought that I should separate parts of my life that not everyone wants to see on a business page. (I still have a lift tracking page as a diary for myself and a personal page for family pics)
My business was Holistify for the longest time until I realized:
- my clients don't hire Holistify, they hire Shaira.
- people don't follow my page for "Holistified" content, they follow because of me.
When I changed my business page username to my name, I noticed something...I felt less restricted. I could embrace that my business page was wholly my heart and soul, and not a "Holistify" mask I put on and had to pretend to be daily.
I'm not a business page, I'm....me. Holistify is the brand I built, but it's not me.
What about you?
When I came forward with my OCD, I actually was able to manage it better. I was so comfortable with labeling myself as OCD, that the idea of being able to live life without OCD restricting me, felt uncomfortable.
Self-given labels make terrible foundations.
If you let a label become your identity, you’ll either protect it… or hide behind it.
What is the self-given label you've given yourself?
Start asking, “Who am I becoming?”
You are not your diagnosis.
You are not your past.
You are not your body fat percentage, income, or mistakes.
You are a child of God first.
Everything else is secondary.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
