About Me—Tell Us About Yourself Too!
Hey There! I wanted to share a bit about me…I’m a survivor of many years of horrific childhood sexual and psychological abuse. I battled anorexia for 10 years…and won. I struggled with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks, turned to self-harm to cope with my inner turmoil, faced demons who appeared through terrifying nightmares, had deplorably low self-esteem, was a chronic people pleaser, had no idea how to say no, became a doormat, was so depressed and scared that I wasn’t sure there was ever going to be a way out.
But I’m here to tell you that healing is possible. I rebuilt myself by going inward and searching hard for the truth—truths that I am still uncovering every day. I fought for myself when no one else did. And I found healing in such a deep way that’s brought such me peace, forgiveness, acceptance, grace and a tapping into of the most unconditional love and life-energy I’ve ever known. There are sometimes still pains, triggers and old programming that try to creep in sometimes. And now I aim to have an attitude of unattached observation when these things come in. And from that sacred, safe space, I am able to bear witness as what needs to bubbles up, is seen/felt and then bubbles away in beautiful transmutation.
My credentials? I graduated with from Dalhousie University with a bachelor of social work degree/BSW back in 2013. I’m also a homeschooling and homesteading mom of 6 kiddos ages 10 and under. My holistic approach stems from my own journey rising out of the ashes, so to speak. I’ve read and researched the works of a wide variety of wellness practitioners from doctors to psychologists to herbalists and midwives and I’ve found my own way of holistic practice arising out of both outside knowledge and personal experience.
Some of my favorite topics include—natural/herbal healing remedies, midwifery, holistic health and wellness, trauma healing, breaking patterns from the past, advocacy, real world change, writing and English, homeschooling and homesteading. Some would say that I’m a bit of a nerd lol.
Holistic health and wellness is my passion. Trauma healing. Herbal remedies. Spiritual meanings. Triggers. Mantras and meditation. Healthy coping mechanisms. Emotional, mental, physical and spiritual aspects—we will look at them all. And ultimately, we will help you connect with your inner healer.
If you want a social worker/doula cross for your pregnancy/birth who will truly advocate for you and actually gets holistic and natural pregnancy and childbirth, I might be who you’re looking for. I’ve had 6 babies and a complete variety of births and pregnancies, breastfed for over 10 years straight, I’m a baby wearing and cloth diapering nut, as well as have a crazy knowledge of midwifery and the medical realm. If I’m not located in your area, I do offer virtual prenatal and postnatal support—new mom fears, discussing holistic options for prenatal and newborn care, advocacy, anxiety and depression, PPA/PPD, just want an older mom to share some insights/to chat with.
Struggling with an eating disorder? I get it, I’ve been there. 10 years in the trenches with Ana trying to take my soul but I said no! And then I spent the next 10 delving into trauma healing looking at the underlying pain that led to the eating disorder. I turned my obsession into an in-depth understanding of nutrition, health and fitness so if you’re struggling with any of these, shoot me a message!
Auto-immune disorder? Chronic pain? Anxiety? Depression? “Neurodivergent” (adhd, autism, etc)? Maybe these don’t have to be life-long struggles. If you’re ready to consider another option, shoot me a PM. I would be happy to chat about holistic alternatives!
Are you considering homeschooling but feel unsure or have questions? Feel free to reach out! I have now been homeschooling for more than 6 years, I’ve written some learn-to-read books (HALV ROUNDTABLE Learning: Learn-to-Read), made worksheets and other resources, etc. They’ve made it out to be a lot harder than it is.
These are just a few of my areas of expertise and passion. I’d love to chat with you where you’re at right now. I look forward to walking with you as we journey towards healing and wholeness for all.
With much love and light!
