Today we are reading Proverbs Chapter 2.
This chapter reminds us of a powerful truth:👉 Wisdom does not come from experience alone — it comes from the Lord.
Proverbs 2:6–8 (AMP)
“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores away sound wisdom for the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with Him]; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,Guarding the paths of justice, And He preserves the way of His godly ones.”
Proverbs 2:6–8 (NLT)
“For the Lord grants wisdom! From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the justAnd protects those who are faithful to Him.”
God is showing us that He is the source of wisdom. Wisdom flows from His mouth, not our emotions, not our impulses, not our opinions.
When the Word says He is a shield / buckler, it means:
- He protects us
- He sustains us
- He upholds us
- He guards our steps
But notice the condition — to those who walk uprightly.
It takes wisdom:
- To make the right choice
- To raise children with patience and guidance
- To be a wife and respond with grace
- To date wisely and discern correctly
- To know when to speak and when to be silent
- To respond instead of react
This is why Scripture teaches that wisdom is the principal thing, and with all our getting, we must get understanding.
God promises:If we seek wisdom,If we lean into His voice,If we listen to His leading,He will give us wisdom.
We are learning to lean into wisdom, not our own understanding. We are learning to lean into God, not our emotions.
