Relationships & The Household
Running a home isn’t just about tasks... it’s also about relationships. Cleaning, cooking, scheduling, and organizing are part of household management. But how those things get done often connects to how people communicate, make decisions, and share responsibility. Every household works a little differently. Some (like myself) like structure and planning. Others prefer flexibility. Some divide tasks clearly. Others take a more fluid approach. What matters most is finding a way that works for the people living in the home. Managing a household isn’t only about systems; it’s also about how people work together. How does your household usually handle responsibilities?

I see it, I do it, it’s done.
Today I walked into the kitchen half awake and saw the sink full of dishes. Normally I would sigh, tell myself I would get to it later when the kids are napping, and carry that tiny weight all day. Instead I rolled up my sleeves and started the water. It took 3 rounds of ten minutes. That was it. The counters were cleared by lunch time, and my brain felt quiet. I realized how much stress comes from the little promises we make to ourselves and keep postponing. Every “I’ll do it later” stays open in the background of your mind. When I just handle it in the moment, the house feels calmer and so do I. No nagging thoughts. No mental clutter. Sometimes peace is not a vacation. Sometimes it is simply washing the dish when you see the dish. What's your small win for the day?

I'd love to jump into how I'd navigate this, but I'd love to hear your ideas first. "I just moved in to a new home and want to keep it clean and in great condition. I’ve never owned a home before, but I know there are lots of things to clean and keep up with. So my question is.. how often do you clean things? Not like your floors or counters but appliances, tub, windows, cupboards, outside, etc. I should add I have toddlers and a dog. Any advice, tips, tricks, hacks, etc. ?! All things cleaning will help me!" **Comment below. 😀
