Can I share a little Italian folk tradition with you? ✨
I love folk magic and tradition. This one comes from Italy.
On the evening of June 23rd, Italians celebrate St. John's Night and they make St. John's Water, a traditional beauty and purification ritual.
They gather herbs and flowers—traditionally St. John's wort, lavender, rosemary, mint, sage, and roses—and place them in a bowl of water. Then, they leave it outside overnight to absorb the summer solstice dew, known in Italian as “guazza”.
On the morning of June 24th, they wash their face and hands with this “magical” water, which is said to bring beauty, ward off negativity, and renew their energy. ✨
Did you guys know about this tradition? Are there similar folk traditions that you know about?
