Born again, and still hurting? Nothing is wrong with your salvation.
When you gave your life to Christ, your spirit was made new in a moment. That part is finished.
But your soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions, and it was not swapped out overnight. Your memories came with you. So did the rejection, the shame, and the old ways of thinking.
That is why David, who already knew the Lord as his shepherd, still said, "He restoreth my soul." You only restore what has been worn down.
Think of Lazarus. Jesus called him out of the tomb alive, and he was still wrapped in graveclothes. Life came in a moment. The unwrapping came after.
So if you love God and it still hurts, you are not a bad Christian, and you are not behind. You are alive, and you are being unwrapped.
The same God who made your spirit new is patient enough to heal your soul.
