‘We can shelter our homes from the harsh sun with grape vines, producing food, and shade in the summer months, and reclaiming the sun's warmth in the winter when the vine loses its leaves only to regenerate again the following year. We can use canopy trees for shelter, and understories to create microclimates for plants we would not otherwise be able to grow. We can utilize water harvesting and work with the land's natural contours to create swales (water channels) that store water under the ground, caring for our plants when the season is dry. We can recycle most of our waste and be conscious consumers. Solar and wind power can channel our needs, and we can completely change our perception to incorporate the climate and not fear it.
