I think this news is not that popular, so I’m here to share with you and try to express my opinion in English.

Portugal has elected new president called Antonio Jose Seguro, which represents center-left Socialist

party of Portugal. Though Portuguese president doesn’t have much power, he can veto legislation and dissolve parliament.

Moreover, during the era that Europe swings to the far-right populism, it is pretty surprised that there is a new center-left president be elected in Portugal. What’s more, Portugal just faced a huge storm therefore a lot of places were flooded, but Portuguese still overcome the obstacle to elect their president and show their resilience.

It’s pretty good to see how Portuguese quickly dealt with the damage caused by the storm and they were still willing to vote their new president. In this era of far-right wing Europe, Portugal shows its difference, and I’m still observing if the political environment in Europe is changing or not.
