Science and religion are not mutually exclusive. Here in Hebrews we see a description of the creation of "the worlds" that echoes what is found in Genesis... a description that has striking similarities to the big bang theory of the creation of the universe. This is not the only place where science and the Bible agree. In Job 26:7 "...he suspends the earth over nothing." This is the earth, floating in space, suspended over "nothing". Also in Job, "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades? Can you loosen Orion’s belt?" The fixed position of the stars. In Ecclesiastes 1:7 "All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again." This describes the flow of rivers to the oceans and the subsequent return of water (as rain and through evaporation). In Leviticus, there are many guidelines for the identification of infectious diseases and the procedures for quarantine. There is even a verse that describes the relation of time to the observer, "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." 2 Peter 3:8 Science and the Bible do not contradict. In fact, they are partners. One explains the "how" and one explains the "Who" and the "why".
