The great Zig Ziglar said, "If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time." So whether you crushed your goals in 2025, missed them, or straight up didn't have any. Make sure you have something to aim at in 2026! Let me know what your 2026 goals are! For me, I have three business goals for 2026: - 1.) Raise the Level of Professionalism in the Industry 2026 will be the year I focus on our team and our culture more than any year in the past. It is my goal to create a team that is focused on winning. Because that's what professionals do, they win at the highest level! The larger we grow, the more I learn that we are not in the business of making tall grass short; we are in the business of people! So, in 2026, we will be relentless about up-leveling talent on our team, making sure our team is winning both personally and professionally. That way, we can provide the highest level of service for our customers and ultimately grow as a result. Creating a virtuous cycle of company growth and promoting our top team members. - 2.) Reduce our debt-to-revenue ratio below 10%. Looking at total business debt compared to annual revenue. For example, if we did an even $2M in top-line revenue in 2026. I would want our debt total to be under $200k. This would include all assets (trucks and mowers), loans, credit lines, etc. I am not against debt and believe it can be used in a healthy fashion to grow, but of course, you will feel more comfortable with less debt when there is a downturn in the economy. - 3.) Hire someone full-time to help create content. I want to share the lessons learned as we grow. By producing content, I believe I can continue to help raise the level of professionalism in the industry on a larger scale. I've been fortunate enough to learn many lessons the hard way and survive them over the last few years. If I can help a few other lawn care and landscaping business owners avoid the mistake I made, that will count as a win.
