Guess who's talking about books... Oh, it's me... Check out our most recent podcast appearance. I go to talk with @Chris Clinard, founder of #books4guys, about why so many people get stuck in the creative process. (Check out the work they are doing and support). We want to help more books get into the world. I think of books as an act of rebellion and one of the deepest human things we do. ... What happens when someone who struggled with reading and dyslexia grows up to publish books and help others become authors? In this episode of Books4Guys, Chris sits down with Sierra Melcher, founder and CEO of Red Thread Publishing, to discuss creativity, writing, personal growth, mental health, journaling, entrepreneurship, and the life-changing power of books. Sierra shares her journey from high school teacher to yoga studio owner to founder of a publishing company that has helped bring more than 76 books into the world. The conversation dives deep into the creative process, overcoming self-doubt, identity transformation through writing, and why so many people hold themselves back from pursuing the stories they are meant to tell. Sierra also shares powerful insights on journaling, burnout, creativity cycles, publishing, and how books can help people better understand themselves and the world around them. Chris and Sierra also discuss: • Why writing a book changes your identity • The connection between creativity and mental health • The importance of reading in today’s distracted world • The balance between discipline and creativity • Why journaling can help unlock ideas and personal growth • Entrepreneurship, mistakes, and learning through failure • Fahrenheit 451 and why everyone should reread it today
Another Boost!
I made a post recently about being picked on the Boost Call (previously called: Goose Roasts) for feedback on my community about page, which back then, the message was fuzzy and unclear, and I had only some AI videos on the about page because I didn't know what to put. Then Goose and everyone gave me super helpful feedback on making it more clear. One point remained which was putting testimonials or anything about myself, and I didn't have any. To my surprise, everyone started writing comments in the chat, and the call went super funny and enjoyable. Here are some of the takes: - @Goose Dunlavey & @Imaan Taghavi said that my glasses were nice, and that I should put a clip where I talk about the leaks, wearing them 😂😂 - @Firenze Banks complimented my looks which was a booster to go and take action on the steps lol, thanks Firenze (hope I'm pronouncing the name right, or in Italian). - @James Humecky mentioned our conversation about the Renaissance. - @Rositsa Aleksandrova was being supportive in the back and cheering us all up. - Hell, @James Reynolds even joined my community during the live call, and we ended up hopping on another 1:1 hangout and talked for an hour afterwards where we explored work strategies, and we had so much in common it was crazy. He's building something great! - And many more awesome comments from everyone else, thanks y'all. The call had a surreal vibe. I now have stuff on my about page that actually works, shows what this house is about, and I had fun doing them, I even remembered that I had a testimonial from a friend whom I helped, and put that one on it as well. The Boost calls are super helpful and fun, we have another one Today.
