THE HAIRCUT PHILOSOPHY Today, I decided to do something. I decided to get my hair trimmed but then I said let me ask people to suggest the hairstyle and beard style. I wanted to see something. To my expectation, every body had a different suggestion. Some said a taper fade with a goatee. Others said a down cut with a stubble trim. It was then I realized everyone would want a different haircut for you. So you've realized just like the haircut, has an advice for you. Hey creators! 🇬🇭 I was just looking into the 2026 tax updates and I had a major "aha!" moment. If you're out here making money from YouTube, TikTok brand deals, or event appearances, we aren’t just "creators"—the GRA officially sees us as Sole Proprietors. I just realized a few things that could literally save us thousands in penalties: ​ 1. The YouTube/TikTok Income Reality 📲 ​I just found out the GRA has launched that specialized digital tool they’ve been talking about. They can now track digital payments coming in from international platforms. ​The Realization: We are supposed to pay Personal Income Tax on our digital earnings. The first GH₵ 5,880 you make in a year is tax-free (0%), but after that, the rates climb. ​ 2. The "Withholding Tax" Secret 🤫 ​You know when a brand pays you for an activation and they deduct 10%? I used to think that money was just "gone." ​The Realization: That is Withholding Tax (WHT). You need to ask the brand for a WHT Credit Certificate. That certificate is basically a "receipt" that says you’ve already paid some of your tax. When you file your annual returns, you use those certificates to reduce the total amount you owe. Don't leave that money on the table! ​ 3. The VAT Trap (And how to avoid it) 🪤 ​I was worried I’d have to start charging 20% VAT on my brand deals. ​The Realization: Unless you are making over GH₵ 750,000 a year from your content, you don’t have to register for VAT! If you’re below that, you can keep your prices competitive without the VAT headache. ​ 4. No more COVID-19 Levy! 📉 ​I just noticed on a recent equipment receipt that the 1% COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy is officially gone as of this year. It makes buying new gear—cameras, lights, mics—slightly cheaper. ​ The Bottom Line: If we want to be taken seriously as an industry and get those huge global contracts, we have to handle the "boring" stuff like pros.
