Cereal is a soup.
Based on the Oxford English Dictionary, I was able to conduct thorough research which shows that cereal may be literally considered a soup. According to the dictionary, soup is “a liquid food, especially one made by boiling or simmering meat, fish, or vegetables in stock or water.” The word “especially” implies that soup may also be made of other ingredients. Given that the preparation of cereal does not include cooking methods such as boiling or simmering, and given that it may be prepared with milk and sugar instead of meat, fish, or vegetables, it becomes clear that cereal is a liquid food that may be classified as a soup.
