seahorses and separation
hey gabe, this is a rough and dirty demo i just recorded using a potato and a calculator. what emotions or colors do you feel? what words come to mind? is it authentic? is it relatable? what's missing? is the form too predictable or too chaotic? is there room for vocals here?
Something worth dying for
on sideways streets where forgetful ghosts used to meet whisper again the fading fables of when uprooted trees didn't recognize a familiar breeze and homeless haunts saw their scarce dreams bought a sideways glance from fiery eyes that used to dance simply slouch and simmer low while hiding places shroud the shadows
What did you like?
What did you like about the singers you've worked with? Phrasing Emotional response Presence Tone Lyrics Melodic simplicity vs complexity
Melody vs Guitar Solo
You've asked me to write a melody. As a guitarist, we might have the tendency to improvise a solo rather than create a melody. What's the difference between a melody and a guitar solo? What characteristics does a good melody possess? What qualities do you look for in a vocalist? How does a vocalist bring your melody to life? What are the emotional responses or colors you keep in mind when creating a melody? What is a haunting melody? What is a nostalgic melody? What is a memorable melody?
3 ideas..
1. You need to sound good playing alone. How to sound good playing without accompaniment? 2. A good song will sound good just on acoustic guitar. What makes a song good with just an acoustic? 3. A singer songwriter brings you a song with a basic chord progression, like 3-4 chords. What do you do with that as a guitarist/songwriter? Do you add more or keep what they've brought to you?
