For 24 years, I have been a teacher. I’ve built classrooms. I’ve built a powerful, highly sought-after afterschool club. I’ve tutored young learners. I’ve created place-based programs that families drive across town for. And through all of it, one thing has remained true: Children learn best through hands-on, whole-body, meaningful experiences. Not apps. Not drill packets. Not endless worksheets. Kids need movement and meaning. My work has been shaped by the science of reading, trauma-informed care, Keys to Literacy, story workshop, and years of early childhood expertise. I believe in teaching the whole child — academically, emotionally, and developmentally. Over the years, families have asked me how they can bring this kind of learning home. Not everyone can attend my clubs or tutoring sessions. Not every family has access to in-person support. So I decided to bring my expertise to you. Welcome to Fresh Air Literacy Lab. This space is designed for families who want structured, hands-on literacy support at home — whether your child is thriving and you want enrichment, or struggling and beginning to feel lost in the classroom. Inside the Literacy Lab, you’ll find four foundational pillars: 🌱 Letters Made Meaningful Hands-on activities that build true letter understanding, not memorization. 🔊 Sound Play Movement-based phonics and sound work that builds confidence and readiness for reading. 🌿 Blending Without Battles-Clear guidance on how to help your child move from sounds to words without frustration. ✍️ Early Writing Through Story Workshop-Drawing, storytelling, and early writing development rooted in meaning — not correction. Everything is self-paced. Everything is practical. Everything is designed for real homes and real families. You do not need to be a literacy expert. You do not need special materials. You do not need to print stacks of worksheets. My videos and lessons meet your child exactly where they are and guide you step by step. And if you decide you want a more personalized experience, there are two additional support options available for families who need more direct guidance.
