Monthly Listeners Are Not Fans 🙅‍♂️
A lot of artists think more monthly listeners means they are growing. But here’s the problem: A monthly listener can hear your song once, skip past your name, never follow you, never save the track, never come to a show and never think about you again. That is not a fan. A fan comes back. A fan saves the song. A fan follows. A fan tells a friend. A fan buys the ticket. So instead of only asking, “How do I get more monthly listeners?” Ask: “How do I turn the listeners I already have into people who actually care?” That shift changes everything. 🎧 Resource drop - Take Control of Your Lyrics with Musixmatch
Most artists upload a song, add the artwork, pitch the release and completely ignore their lyrics. That is a missed opportunity. Musixmatch is the platform that helps deliver lyrics across Spotify and other major platforms. It gives artists a way to claim their catalogue, correct mistakes, synchronise lyrics and make sure fans are seeing the right words at the right time. Why this matters Your lyrics are more than text. They can help fans: 1. Connect more deeply with the song 2. Share specific lines 3. Sing along 4. Understand your story 5. Discover and remember your music Missing or incorrect lyrics make your catalogue look unfinished. What to do 1. Head to Musixmatch Prohttps://www.musixmatch.com/pro 2. Create an account 3. Claim and verify your artist profile 4. Review your full catalogue 5. Correct any lyric mistakes 6. Sync the lyrics to the audio 7. Check how they display across your DSPs This is not the most exciting job in an artist’s career. But sustainable careers are built by artists who take care of the details most people ignore. You spent months writing the song. Take 20 minutes and make sure the world is reading it correctly. Drop a ✅ below once you have checked your catalogue.

🎧 Resource Drop: Every Noise at Once
If you’re looking for one of the most powerful music discovery tools ever created, spend some time exploring this: https://everynoise.com/ Built by Glenn McDonald, Every Noise at Once maps thousands of music genres and artists using Spotify data, allowing you to discover new sounds, genres, artists and scenes from all over the world. It’s essentially a giant interactive map of modern music. A few ways artists can use it: • Discover artists similar to your sound • Find niche genres that better describe your music • Research scenes and markets around the world • Identify potential playlist opportunities • Explore what fans of similar artists are listening to • Find inspiration outside your usual listening habits One challenge many independent artists face is that they only listen within their immediate genre. Some of the most exciting creative breakthroughs happen when you start exploring the edges of your musical world. Challenge for this week: 1. Search your artist name. 2. Find the genres Spotify associates with your music. 3. Explore 3 neighbouring genres you’ve never heard of. 4. Share one artist you discovered below 👇 I’ve found some absolute gems using this over the years. Curious to see what everyone uncovers.

ABOUT -> Independent Artist Strategy
This tab is where I’ll share useful strategy, industry updates, frameworks, resources, tools, and breakdowns for independent artists. Think of this as the signal section. The music industry is noisy. There is always a new platform, trend, hack, playlist, tool, algorithm change, content strategy, or opinion telling you what you “should” be doing. Most of it is either incomplete, outdated, or missing context. This space is designed to cut through that. Here you’ll find posts that help you think more clearly about: 🟣 Release strategy 🟣 Content and marketing 🟣 Artist branding 🟣 Fan growth 🟣 DSP optimisation 🟣 Live shows and touring 🟣 Direct-to-fan systems 🟣 Audience building 🟣 Career structure 🟣 Industry changes 🟣 Useful tools and resources This is not random motivation. This is not hype. This is not “just post more.” The goal is to give you practical information you can actually use to make better decisions and build a stronger career. Use this tab to stay sharp. Read the posts. Save what is useful. Ask follow-up questions in the comments. Apply what makes sense to your situation. And remember: Strategy only matters if it turns into execution -> Let’s build properly.
