I work in a school district that has 3 RBTs spread throughout the district. There are also 15 para-pros (also spread amongst the schools). The RBTs are newly certified but have been para-pros for 5+ years. This year there is a kindergarten class that has 3 students who are displaying bigger behaviors (knocking over chairs, shouting out, verbal refusals, hitting, and pushing others). They have a para-pro coming in and out of the room throughout the day but not the RBT (he is assigned to another student at the moment). The SPED director asked me to come up with a criteria as to when the RBT should be working with the kindergarten class. The district wants something solid so that this criteria can be used religiously in other cases. Thoughts as to what this criteria should be? The student that the RBT is currently with has more intensive behaviors, so he needs a skilled person too. Help please!
