Happy Friday!!
Mothers day coming up here in downtown sunny Wollongong. Which has me thinking...
Mothering energy isn’t only about being a mum. Or having one. It’s a kind of feminine energy that lives in all of us — the part that nurtures, softens, listens, protects, comforts, feeds, soothes, and says, “You don’t have to do everything alone.”
For some of us, this comes naturally. For others, it’s something we are learning slowly.
Its taken me some time to feel ok about giving or receiving softness. Feels a bit pathetic to be honest.
So today I'm asking myself:
How do I speak to myself when I’m tired, overwhelmed or unsure?
Do I push myself harder, or do I offer myself care? patence? wisdom?
Do I know how to comfort myself when life feels so bloody BIG?
Whatever your relationship and experiences to softness and self-care - maybe try a bit of this in the coming week:
🌿 Make yourself a proper meal, not just a snack grabbed in a rush.
🌿 Put your hand on your heart and speak to yourself kindly.
🌿 Rest before you completely run out of energy.
🌿 Tidy one small corner of your space so it feels easier to breathe.
🌿 Wrap yourself in a blanket, make tea, and let yourself land.
And if connecting with your mum feels nurturing, safe, or supportive for you, touch base with her.
A call. A message. A cup of tea.
And if Mother’s Day is complicated, awkward, painful or not simple for you, that belongs too. You can still receive mothering energy — from yourself, from nature, from good friends, from your own body, from the quiet act of being gentle with yourself.
This week, practise being on your own side.
Less pressure. More tenderness.
Less noise. More meaning.
