Recruiting is a FULL TIME JOB!
My name is Bob Sexton and I've been around the game of football over 50 years now. During that time, I've played football in high school and college, spent five years with an NFL athletic training staff, and spent two years as the COO of an Arena League Football Team. So, I have a bit of experience and a few contacts in the game, and because I tend to ask a lot of questions, I've learned a lot about the game, and about recruiting. I’ve learned a LOT, and helped many players get a full ride, including my own son.
There is so much that goes into getting recruited to play college football, that it's almost literally a full-time job. From the time my son took over as the starter in high school as a sophomore, until he signed to play college ball on signing day his senior year, it felt like it was non-stop.
The biggest mistake that people make is thinking that your high school coaches are going to get you recruited. There have been surveys done and 93% of high school football players said they thought their coaches were handling their recruiting. It has cost many players an opportunity to play at the college level, and millions of dollars have been forfeited because no one knew about the player.
You've probably heard the statement “if you're good enough coaches will find you.” This is true to some degree. If you are a five-star player, coaches will most likely find you. However, there are countless cases when a player with exceptional skill, good size, and all the speed required, never get found. Guys like Baker Mayfield are a perfect example of this. Baker played high school ball 20 minutes from my home, and he was an exceptional football player, and obviously still is. But he had zero offers coming out of high school. He went on to become a walk on starter at 2 top Division One programs, won the Heisman Trophy, and went on to become the number one pick in the NFL draft, yet no one offered him a scholarship coming out of high school!!
One of the main reasons I have chosen to offer this is because I'm tired of seeing these so-called “recruiting services” rip people off. If you're a high school athlete I am sure that you have seen multiple companies that say, “sign with us, and we guarantee we will get you in front of college coaches!”
I saw one the other day that put me over the edge, this guy made the claim that he will get anyone that signs with him 5 new contacts from college coaches every single day! I'm sorry, but if you’re naïve enough to give that guy your credit card number, you probably deserve what you are going to get. There could not be a bigger scam than that. Maybe I should have called and asked, but I have no idea how he can even make that claim with a straight face. There were no requirements, he didn't say that you had to be a five-star recruit, or anything like that. He said he will get anyone “5 new contacts per day!” from college coaches. That's as absurd as it gets, and it put me over the edge.
Absolutely no one can guarantee you anything when it comes to college recruiting. Yes, there are guys like me that have contacts with multiple coaches, but even that cannot guarantee that you will be recruited by any school! There are just too many variables for anyone to be able to make such an absurd claim.
My goal is to provide you with a solid path to a scholarship, IF you have the physical and mental make-up to earn one. I want to help you make sure that your highlight video gets seen by the right people and that you're doing everything to maximize your chances of getting the best opportunity possible, just like I did for my son, and every one of the QB's I've trained when they graduated high school.
The process is not easy, and it gets frustrating at times. But I am going to save you a lot of that frustration, show you how to plan ahead to minimize the issues, and save you a TON of money. If you're like me, you're willing to go above and beyond to help your kid get the best opportunity possible. I spared no expense and wasted a LOT of time and money on things that were totally useless because I didn't listen to some very good advice. If you will learn from my experience and failures, you will save a fortune, and your kid will have an easier path to any opportunities they my create for themselves.
