Just teaching math… with my lap chicken
Had a long day today. 7 hours of math. At least Roger came to sit with me for the last hour! 😋

Just teaching math… with my lap chicken
To all the new members: Welcome!
Welcome in! Please feel free to introduce yourself. (Or observe quietly, if you prefer. No pressure.) In my classes, this is always my go-to icebreaker: Name 3 things you LOVE! Name 2 things you remember (liking) about math. Name 1 thing you want me to know about you. Or just introduce yourself as you’d like. We’re glad to have ya here!
Welcome to the New Year!
You guyyyyyys. I'm so excited and inspired by the break! I'm posting here in my 2 minutes before I start class. This semester has turned out to be JUMPIN! (I work by the hour, so I'm thankful for the full schedule. . . but. . . . ) MAN that time off was good. Gave me time to revamp flippinmath.com. It's now sending everyone here. And I have a vision. I’ll keep it short: I’m shaping this space into real rooms—places to connect, create, get support, and sit with ideas that matter. More soon… but I couldn’t wait to say, I’m really excited about what’s unfolding here. BRB. . . gotta go "math it up!"

Welcome to the New Year!
Welcome! Here’s how this space works.
If you’re here, there’s a good chance math has felt confusing, frustrating, or oddly intimidating at some point. (Either that, or you’re a puzzleophile like me!) Struggling with math usually isn’t because you’re bad at it — it’s because something didn’t quite connect along the way. This space exists to work with that. I’m a holistic math teacher, which means I care about how ideas fit together and how people experience learning them. We’ll spend time noticing patterns, repairing little potholes when we hit them, and looking at the bigger picture so new things don’t feel like they come out of nowhere. You’ll see puzzles here sometimes. Some are gentle. Some are juicy. You’re welcome to try them, wrestle with them, ignore them, or just watch how other people think. There’s no expectation to post, comment, solve, or keep up. You don’t have to be quick. You don’t have to be confident. You don’t even have to be verbal. Math often starts as uncertainty. That can feel scary. With practice, tools, and a few good ways of looking at things, that same uncertainty can turn into something you can actually play with. That’s what we’re doing here. I’ll share thoughts, explanations, and puzzles as they come up — not on a rigid schedule. Feel free to look around quietly, jump in when something catches your interest, or ask a question whenever one shows up. I’m really glad you’re here. — Reeeebs
