Real Food vs Fake Food: Can You Tell the Difference?
How to Recognize Real Food
1. It Comes From Nature
Real food is grown, raised, or caught — not manufactured.
Examples:
  • Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds
  • Meat, fish, eggs, poultry
  • Whole grains, beans, lentils
2. Few or No Ingredients
Check the label — or better yet, it has no label at all.
Real food:
  • “Ingredients: Almonds”
  • “Ingredients: Salmon”
  • Not real food:
  • Long list of chemicals
  • Added sugar, dyes, preservatives, seed oils
3. It Spoils
If it can sit on a shelf for years, it’s not real food.
  • Real food goes bad — it has a short shelf life because it’s alive.
  • Think: fresh produce, dairy, fresh meat.
4. You Could Make It Yourself
Ask: Could I make this in my own kitchen?
Yes: Soup from veggies and broth
No: “cheese” spread or Twinkies
5. Your Great-Grandparents Would Recognize It
If it didn’t exist 100 years ago, it’s probably not real food
  • Think: eggs, apples, chicken, oats
  • Not: Pop-Tarts, energy drinks, “diet” snacks

Go into your cupboards. (We generally put food in our fridges that will "spoil")
Pull out every "food"
Run it through these 5 criteria.
Start 2 "piles"
Share the poison pile with the food bank or throw it out.
If someone gave you poison, you'd never say "I don't want to waste this so I'll eat it"
  1. Does it It come From Nature?
  2. Does it have few or No "Ingredients"?
  3. Will it go rotten or moldy if I don't eat it quickly?
  4. Could I make this myself or do I need a Lab?
  5. Would my Great Grandparents recognize this as food?
What Level will You Play at?
Do not pass "Go" - "I'm not wasting all of this good poison"?I might need it for my cruise to "Someday Isle" Seems like a great game to play from my Hospital bed.
