Five Tips For Using Body Language
  1. Use body language to add depth to dialogue - because notice what happens in conversations you have with friends versus strangers, people in charge versus applicants, and how what we do with our hands, eyes etc all has an impact.
  2. Use it because more than 50% of human communication is non-verbal. We use gestures, movements, habits without thinking about it. So watch and take note.
  3. Use it to show how your character’s reactions come from emotions.
  4. Use it to help you show us your character's unique take on the world, don't 'tell' your reader everything.
  5. Use it in moderation. If overused, it can slow your story down. If not used enough, we have talking heads.
