Introduction!
Hello everyone, I'm Nathan, I own a music retail store that sells & repairs vintage stereo equipment called Sound Heritage (Nanaimo), I've lived on Vancouver Island for about 5 years & love the music & events scenes here! I've hosted many small live music events at my shop in the past two years, & am working on getting an outdoor space behind the store up to code for 100-200 person events in 2026-2027. Additionally, I'm into volunteering & working at festivals and burning man regional events, and am exploring ways to level up my skills in the off-seasons to be more helpful in these contexts. I attended the Laketown Events Training Program last year, gaining hands-on training in site operations and stage management. Was proud to lend my skills at Sunk City Music Fest, Pachena Bay, Otherworld & What If in summer 2025! I'm also learning to DJ, with Tech House as my first musical love in this regard! Hoping 2026 will be the year I perform in front of a crowd. Stoked to be a part of this intentional community and the collaborations to come 💫🎶🏞️

Introduction
Hey Friends, Nice to meet you all here and excited to be part of this community. My name is Khan, I’ve been a DJ for roughly 25 yrs and event producer for 22. I had my start in the Vancouver rave scene back in 1999. Back then influenced by the pioneers of Trance and Progressive House music like John Digweed & Sasha after seeing them play here on the island at the Memorial arena. Between 2003-2008, me and a close friend group in Vancouver threw events in the Elaho valley (mile 36) up in Squamish with our collective called Beheshto. I learnt a lot about leadership in running a non-profit group of misfits to create rich temporary autonomous zones in nature by the mountains on the river bank. I moved to Victoria in 2007 (still here) and continued my DJ career over on the island, and started diversifying the genres of music I played, to different types of 4x4 and Bass music. It is around this time also I started playing at Festivals like Shambhala, Electric Love and Inshala. Around 2017 I started working with the Crew of Ironic Spin and joined the Island Burner scene, and became a co-lead for them for the past few years. I am excited to have met @Benjamin Eliah Howells and started participating at Pacheena Bay Music festival as of last year, and looking forward to be participating again this year. I attribute a lot of my personal and spiritual growth to the music scene and so throughout my music career I have always felt strongly about giving back to the community by the dancefloor magic I co-create with the dances while I DJ and events that I produce. No matter what genre I’m playing, the music I select music to play that derives its soul and depth by the juxtaposition of punchy electronic music paired with the soulful organic music from around the world, specially middle eastern and Indian influences where my roots are from. Recently I have been working on the ideation and creation of a Saas platform that helps DJs and eventually artists with Promoting themselves. I’ll share more in a dedicated thread.

Quick self-intro
Hello everyone! I was excited to read about this initiative and I'm keen to make some new connections to build and maintain the local electronic music scene. Over the past few years I've been slowly getting back into making music and organizing events, but this was mostly on the mainland where most of my music friends live and I'm looking to shift my focus to the island where I've been living since 2022. Originally I'm from Germany, where I was entrenched in the local electronic music scene during my teens and 20s. The music I play today when I'm behind the decks myself is heavily flavored by that influence. This is my Soundcloud in case you're interested: https://soundcloud.com/silvan-shiwa-k/nye-2026
Salty Hearts May 1-2, 2026
SALTY HEARTS MUSIC FESTIVAL MAY 1-2, 2026 Salty Hearts is a cozy, salty, slightly feral little sister to Pachena Bay. Same coast. Same crew. Saltier vibe. Expect live bands echoing through downtown Bamfield, DJs and fires at Pachena Bay Campground, and music naturally woven through the town itself. Cold dips. Sauna hangs. Jam sessions. Short rides in little boats. Long conversations in beautiful places. Connections that start on the dance floor and end by the fire. Let's get cozy! This year, we’re welcoming families and expanding daytime programming, including collaborations with the Bamfield Marine Science Centre and other local points of interest. Camping is “by the site” (not festival-style camping like Pachena). Once you rent a campsite, you can bring your vehicle, trailer, crew, and settle in for the weekend however you want. Campground rules apply. Don’t like camping? No Prob. Festival in style at the Hacas Inn—turning your front door into a front-row seat for all the bands at the Hacas Stage.
