How to Talk to Clients About What to Wear This one is all about something that can completely change the final look of a session: outfits. As photographers, we know that clothing affects the mood, colour harmony, polish, and overall feeling of a gallery. But most clients don't always understand that until they see the photos. In this lesson, I walk through how to explain wardrobe choices to clients in a way that feels helpful, kind, and professional. We’ll cover: ✨ why styling matters ✨ how outfit choices affect the final image ✨ how to show clients the difference using examples ✨ what to say when clients ask, “What should we wear?” ✨ how to guide clients without making them feel criticized ✨ how to use a styling guide as part of your client experience I also included visual examples showing how uncoordinated vs. coordinated outfits can change the feeling of the same session. This is especially helpful if you photograph families, maternity, couples, or seasonal minis and want your galleries to look more cohesive and timeless. You can find the lesson in the classroom now. Well… first live session lesson learned 😅 Today’s live photo critique just ended, and I’m so sorry — I realized after the session that I forgot to hit record so there will be no replay from this event. It also looks like the timing may not have worked for most people — totally okay! I used the time to edit a gallery from culling to full edits, but since we didn’t have a live discussion today, there won’t be a replay for this one. Tomorrow I’ll be hosting a live photo critique and Q&A inside the community. You can bring one-two family photos, a portrait, or a session image that you’d like feedback on. We can look at light, composition, posing, editing, cropping, storytelling, and small changes that could make the image stronger. You can also bring any photography questions you have — whether it’s about shooting, editing, working with families, prompts, client experience, gear, or workflow. In the meantime, I’ll be editing some photos live, so feel free to tag along, watch the process, ask questions, or just hang out. This is meant to be relaxed and supportive.
