Weekly Devotional:
Snapdragon "Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." — Luke 12:27
Snapdragons are some of the most unique flowers in a garden. Their blossoms look almost like tiny mouths that open and close when gently pressed. Because of this, they are often seen as symbols of strength and grace. Even more interesting, snapdragons can grow in rocky soil and cooler weather, standing tall when other flowers might struggle.
I think snapdragons are a reminder that strength does not always look loud or dramatic. Sometimes it looks like quietly standing firm. These flowers do not need perfect conditions to grow beautifully. They adapt. They remain upright. They continue blooming even when the environment is not ideal.
In our lives, we do not always have perfect conditions either. School can feel overwhelming. Friendships can be complicated. Plans can change unexpectedly. But just like the snapdragon, we are called to stand firm in our faith. God does not promise perfect circumstances, but He promises His presence. He gives us strength to grow wherever He plants us.
Snapdragons also bloom upward, reaching toward the sky. This reminds me that our hearts should constantly turn toward God. Even when life feels uncertain, we can choose to lift our thoughts, prayers, and hopes to Him.
This week, consider the snapdragon. Remember that you can stand strong in difficult places, grow in unexpected seasons, and continue reaching upward. God is able to use every environment to shape your faith and help you flourish.
