Saturday, Sept. 26 Theology Call ⚖️ Main discussion: honesty, deception, morality, and how Christians should handle hard situations. • Tactical deception — is it always wrong to let someone believe something false? • Lying to preserve life — does the motive matter if you are protecting innocent people? • Schindler’s List — used as an example of deception being used to save lives. • Faith vs. intervention — should you ever deceive to protect someone, or tell the truth and trust God with the outcome? • Ethics vs. morality — ethics can mean following the rules of a system, while we discussed morality as ultimately grounded in God. • Morality without God — how do you build an objective moral system if there is no God? • Bonhoeffer — discussed his work and how Christians should respond to extreme evil. • Suicidal empathy — compassion can become harmful if it protects evil instead of innocent life. • Motivation matters — two people can do the same action for very different moral reasons. 🔥 God’s justice and wrath • Philip brought up the difference between wrath and justice. • We discussed justice as God setting things right. • Justice can include punishment, but it can also include mercy. • God should not be treated like a rulebook or formula. He is personal, wise, and understands the full situation. 📖 Biblical law • Discussed Drew Johnson’s work on biblical law. • Biblical laws can function as guidelines and precedents rather than giving a specific rule for every possible situation. • Christians still have to use wisdom when dealing with unique situations. 👼 Free will and the spiritual world • Humans have free will. • Some angels also appear to have free will. • Humanity is made in God’s image. • We talked about demons and exorcism, including experiences Philip and Collan had during mission trips. 🐄 The Red Heifer • Discussed the red heifer ceremony and its connection to purification. • The sacrifice is burned and the ashes are mixed with water for ceremonial purification.

Offering Hospitality is better & way more generous than giving money to someone for free!
