Marketing Challenge for May
Considering how you wanted ideas for marketing, I'll start posting some for the rest of the month and if needed, longer. They are all short and sweet, things you can do, think about and act upon. I put them all together in a course in the Classroom and will use some of that list but I'll also do more current research and share suggestions with you here. They might seem simplistic and obvious but have you done them yet? I'll try to find the research to back them up too.
If you are the Type A personality, here is a list to play with. For the B- folks like me, pick one idea and act when so inspired.
Well, recent content analyses show that the massive industry shift from traditional long-form content to short-form content is a direct response to declining user attention spans in the digital age (Towpek, 2026). Short form attracts the attention of the algorithm and if a wide audience watches and interacts, it then shares to an even wider audience. Shorts also feed the dopamine addiction of smart phones and if engaging enough sends the audience to look for more from you, on or off YT. So, first challenge is as followed. Post your thoughts and results below.
  • Record a short reel on your topic of expertise and post to YouTube and Instagram (or one other place but keep it easy for yourself). Watch that the title captures the content and niche. Be concise and under 2 minutes to reach more people. Check your hashtags.
