What is MBTI?
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an incredible resource for growing your understanding of yourself and those around you. MBTI is made up of 16 different personality types, each a combination of 8 different letters. Those letters are E/I, S/N, T/F, and P/J. There are also some bonus letters T/A at the end, but we'll talk more about that later. The primary letters are the initial eight I mentioned. These letters stand for Extraverted/Introverted, Sensing (or obServing)/iNtuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Perceiving/Judging. Each of these letters are a representation of a part of your Myers-Briggs type. When these letters are put together, the represent a personality type within Myers-Briggs. For example: An ENFP (Extraverted/iNtuition/Feeling/Percieving) is one of them. Another, ISTJ (Introverted/Sensing (obServing)/Thinking/Judging), has the opposite letter of ENFP (this doesn't exactly mean they're are completely opposite from each other though; more on that later, too). There are 14 other letter combinations that represent personality types Here in this community, we'll continue to learn more about our own personality types and hopefully also the personality types of those in our lives to help us find common ground, learn more about one another, and grow in our connectedness! Now, learning about MBTI in no way guarantees relationship success, but it can help you understand where others are coming from and how they may see things differently or similarly to you and that is SO helpful. Welcome to the community! I'm glad you're here! Let's jump in!
