Question about lowering prices.

I’ve been thinking whether to ask this or not, but I have a quick question about lowering my prices. I’m a little confused about how to approach this.

When I’m looking at the bestsellers in my niche, should I compare my prices to their regular prices or their discounted prices? Should I ignore listings that are running ads?
