Why I started the group I wished existed
Madeira is a Paradise Island with many people settling who we’re just passing through, and many others who visit as frequently as they can.
And it makes sense that social media groups about moving to or living in Madeira have been started and have grown popular.
But it’s a bitter sweet experience for genuine Madeira appreciators and curious outsiders trying to decide if they should move to Madeira.
We love the pictures of scenery and the useful information about what to try next, but feel disappointed with the level of rudeness and growing infiltration of spam and trolls.
I reached out to some fellow Madeira lovers who happen to have useful expertise, and they agreed that it would be fun and refreshing to help start and grow a more enjoyable community.
