Meet Alia 🐘
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has rescued a new elephant orphan.
Alia was found alone in Lumo Conservancy; she was thin, weak, and struggling. With night approaching, the Sheldrick rescue team moved quickly and brought her to safety.
At first, she was nervous and withdrawn after her traumatic beginning to life. But with milk, rest, and the steady love and care of Keepers and fellow orphans, she is beginning to regain strength. Now she has gentle elephant friends who love and protect her, and she is slowly coming out of her shell.
Every orphan Sheldrick rescues is ultimately reintegrated into protected wilderness. Their legacy now includes more than 90 elephant grand-calves born to ex-orphans; three wild babies already born this year.
If you’d like to follow Alia’s journey, you can adopt her through Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and receive updates, photos, and videos as she grows.
