Purchasing With Purpose
This thread exists because how we spend our money matters. Most of us are already purchasing everyday necessities. Food, gifts, household items, small comforts. I choose to redirect some of that existing spending toward options that also support animals, as a form of stewardship. Purchasing With Purpose is a resource inside this community for doing exactly that. Everything shared here aligns with the heart of Empowering Animals. These are options I personally support because they allow care for animals to be woven into daily life, without asking for more time, more effort, or more consumption. Take a moment to click the link below and look around. Be sure to choose the organization you want to support in the dropdown menu. Keep this as a resource you return to when you want to purchase with purpose. You can explore the resource here and find it in the classroom: Purchasing with Purpose A note on transparency. Some links shared through Purchasing with Purpose are affiliate links. They help sustain this community and the work behind it. Ten percent of net proceeds are donated directly to animal organizations doing on-the-ground work. This is not about doing more. It is about choosing with intention.

Please Help Empowering Animals Grow
Empowering Animals is still new, which means it’s flexible, open, and growing in real time. That’s a good thing. It allows this space to become what the animals need and what this community values most. If you feel called, one of the simplest ways you can help right now is by sharing Empowering Animals on your social platforms with other animal lovers. Engagement helps this page get noticed, and when the animals are seen, help follows. I also want to hear from you. What would you like to see more of here? Rescue stories, urgent needs, education, fun facts, quiet reflections, specific animals, or something else? I will always continue sharing verified organizations with immediate needs. If there’s an organization you care about or one that needs urgent support, feel free to DM me. I’m happy to reach out to them directly for permission before sharing them in the Classroom. Thank you for being here. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping Empowering Animals grow in a way that feels genuine, grounded, and led by love. This space exists for the animals. 🐾💚

Meet a Tree Kangaroo Joey
Marsupials are filled with surprises. Each story reminds us how life, in its tender beginnings, can teach us something new. Recently, keepers at Chester Zoo in the UK captured remarkable footage of a Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo joey growing inside his mother’s pouch. Tiny cameras placed gently inside the pouch gave us a rare window into his earliest days, from jellybean size through the first months of development. If you’re curious to see that rare pouch footage, you can watch it here. This precious joey was born to parents Kitawa and Kayjo through an international conservation breeding program, part of a global effort to help this endangered species thrive. Here are five fascinating facts about tree kangaroos: 1. Like all marsupials, tree kangaroo joeys are born extremely small, about the size of a jellybean. They must climb into their mother’s pouch immediately after birth to continue developing. 2. Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos live high in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, spending much of their day in trees rather than on the ground. 3. Tree kangaroos move with surprising grace in the trees, able to climb, perch, and leap between branches with ease. 4. Tree kangaroos tend to rest or sleep for up to 16 hours a day, often positioning themselves head down so rain can roll off their fur. 5. Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo is classified as Endangered due to habitat loss and slow reproduction, which makes every successful birth especially meaningful. This short video includes a mix of footage from both protected environments and the wild. It offers a helpful glimpse into how tree kangaroos climb and navigate trees, something many of us have never seen before. Learning about the wonderful world of animals is a gentle reminder that there is always more to learn, care for, and celebrate. What marsupial do you want to learn about next?
Molly the Sea Turtle
There are stories that quietly remind us that healing is possible even when the odds feel immense. Molly, a loggerhead sea turtle, was found off the shore of the Florida Keys deeply entangled and weighed down by barnacles and a tumor that was more than ten pounds in her world of salt and sea. She could barely swim. At The Turtle Hospital in the Florida Keys she received care, surgeries, nourishment, and time to regain her strength. When she was ready, she was carried back to the edge of the ocean and given her moment of release. A small tag now moves with her gentle path through the water, tracing the next chapter of her life. There is something sacred in witnessing a life return to the place it belongs. Not because it is simple, not because it is easy, but because someone cared enough to help. Someone made space for healing, and watched her go home again. You can read her story and learn more here Molly the Sea Turtle rescue and release at The Turtle Hospital website. Or watch the video on The Dodo here. 🐢 Have you ever witnessed a rescue story that stayed with you? I would love to hear about it.
