You’re Not Broken. You’re Adapted.
If you’re here, there’s a reason. Most people think they’re overthinking… burnt out… or just wired this way. But what’s actually happening is this: Your brain adapted to survive. And it never turned that off. That’s why you: - Feel like you always have to stay “on” - Struggle to fully relax - Overthink even simple decisions This community is where we break that down. Not surface-level advice— the actual mechanics behind it. Start here: 👉 Where do you notice survival mode showing up most in your life?
Safety Can Start Small
Yesterday, we talked about noticing what keeps your nervous system on high alert. Today, let’s talk about what safety can actually look like. Safety does not always mean quitting the job, ending the relationship, or changing everything overnight. Sometimes safety starts much smaller. It might look like: - Giving yourself five quiet minutes before responding - Turning off notifications - Taking a slower breath - Saying, “I need a minute” - Stepping outside - Letting your body unclench - Reaching out to someone who feels steady Today’s reflection: What is one small thing that helps your body feel safer or more settled? It does not have to be impressive. It just has to be real. Drop yours in the comments if you want to share.
Safety Can Start Small
This week, we’re starting with number 1 from the “14 Ways to Get Out of Survival Mode” flyer:
Create safety first. When we hear the word “safety,” we often think of physical safety. But your nervous system is also constantly scanning for emotional safety, relational safety, and environmental safety. Survival mode can show up when your body feels like it always has to be on guard. You might feel tense, rushed, irritable, numb, overwhelmed, or like you can never fully relax. Today’s reflection: What is one thing that has been keeping your nervous system on high alert lately? You do not have to fix it today. Just noticing it is a powerful first step. If you feel comfortable, share one thing you’re noticing below.
This week, we’re starting with number 1 from the “14 Ways to Get Out of Survival Mode” flyer:
14 WAYS TO GET OUT OF "SURVIVAL MODE"
Many of us spend so much time trying to get through the day that we do not realize we are living in survival mode. Survival mode can look like rushing, overworking, feeling disconnected, running on stress, or only focusing on what has to get done next. Today, I’m sharing this “14 Ways to Get Out of Survival Mode” flyer as the start of a new 14-week series inside this community. Each week, we’ll focus on one of the 14 ways and break it down into simple, realistic steps you can actually practice in daily life. This week, we’re starting with number 1: Create safety first. That means looking at what keeps your nervous system on high alert and asking: “What would help me feel even a little safer, steadier, or more supported right now?” No pressure. No perfection. Just one small shift at a time. This week, I’ll post a new reflection Tuesday through Sunday to help you explore this first step more deeply. I’d love for you to follow along and share what comes up for you throughout the week. Your nervous system does not need perfection. It needs safety, compassion, and consistency.
