Greetings
Still feel like a relatively new hunter… Been hunting for 3 years now. I live in the Portland metro area but been hunting out in Eastern Oregon.
Primarily been hunting for deer and elk. Definitely had some beginners luck with first deer hunt; tagged out on the last night on more of a fluke but tagged out nonetheless. First year hunting elk was the OTC second season for Eastern Oregon. Realized that this tag was gonna suck hunting and so I decided I would try archery hunting elk during the rut and loved it! First season wasn’t anything crazy to write home about. Found elk in one spot but couldn’t figure out how to hunt it.
Last year we started getting into the elk some more — figuring out how to call a bit, calling them in and finding them. Had a couple of fun encounters that left me with valuable life lessons 🤣 but not tagging out 😇
