The Clock Is Ticking...
Tick, tick, tick...
0:00 – 0:05
“Hey ____, Garrett here. Since you booked this call, my goal is simple - make this worth your time. Sound good?”
Five seconds.
Authority established.
0:05 – 0:10
“Here’s how this’ll go: I’ll ask a few questions to understand what’s actually going on. If I can help, I’ll tell you. If not, I’ll tell you that too. Fair?”
Simple, direct, devoid of pressure.
0:10 – 0:15
YOU control the pace - Slow, Intentional, Confident.
YOU slow the tempo.
Most people rush.
Your tone tells them:
“I’ve done this a thousand times. You’re in good hands.”
That alone lowers their guard.
0:15 – 0:20
Anchor the URGENCY.
“So walk me through this - what made you book this call today instead of pushing it off like most people do?”
This hits hard.
It forces them to own their urgency.
Now THEY are emotionally invested.
0:20 – 0:25
Filter the Serious From the Curious
“Got it. And what’s the real goal here? Not the polished (bullshit) answer - the actual one.”
This exposes truth.
Gets rid of the bullshit / nonsense.
Makes them open up or tap out.
Either way, you know where you stand.
0:25 – 0:30
Set the Standard - You Only Work With Committed People
“Great. I can help you (only) if you’re willing to go all-in on this conversation. We good?”
Boom.
They commit.
You now have permission to challenge, dig deep, and call them out as needed.
Bottom Line:
The first 30 seconds aren’t about “rapport.”
They’re about control, "safety", and standards (yours).
If you don’t dominate the opening, you’ll chase for next 45-60 minutes like a dope.
But when you own the frame from second one?
The rest of the call becomes far less of a 'street fight'....
