No energy?
Wanted to share something I've been chewing on that really paints the picture of why I can’t seem to be consistent in anything. Credit to Gene Hart for this. Book is "Sealing the Vessel" by Gene Hart. Any quotes in here are from the book
First off, take a look at the pictures I've attached of the jar and the colander.
Gene was teaching not only in relation to astral projection, but also in relation to our energy in general. There's a few core pieces here.
The first is that Life force energy is always flowing into us from the everlasting Spring. Always. This the Divine Feminine -- always supporting, nourishing.
Second core idea: You are a vessel which can hold the waters of this ever-flowing spring. The vessel is our capacity to hold energy.
Third piece: What is a leak? "A leak is a place where your attention has been captured and bound, where a film is running and you are absorbed in it." "Tension is a frozen leak. Every chronic clench in the body is attention that flowed out long ago and never came home, light trapped in the muscle like water trapped in ice."
I'm a massage therapist, and my oh my does this explain why everyone is so fucking tense. We all have old wounds that never properly healed.
It is Divine providence that we are given the grace of this constant flow of Life into us. This is a blessing so rich we cannot remotely fathom it in its fullness.
Which is why it pains me so to witness how I squander it.
All of us have leaks to varying degrees. (I think this is what some people mean when they talk about having "holes in your aura.") In fact for most of us, our vessels are less like a jar and more like a colander. You have so many holes that despite the infinite cosmic wellspring innervating you, you never feel fully alive. How can that be?
Well simply, because it pours out before it ever accumulates in a meaningful amount. Kinda like how in typical breathing a human only uses ~10% of their total lung capacity. We tend to do the bare minimum to get by. We become accustomed to smallness.
A colander cannot hold water, no matter how much you pour into it, and a leaking consciousness cannot hold the energy your ambitions require, no matter how many techniques you throw at it.
What I’ve personally been made to see recently is the myriad holes in my vessel that I’m leaking energy through. What are the holes in this analogy? Again, a hole is "a place where your attention has been captured and bound, where a film is running and you are absorbed in it." It's things like distraction, scrolling, porn, substances, imaginary arguments in your head with that one person...
What's magical about these practices is that they show you "Awareness does not have to fight the leak, because Awareness is made of exactly what the leak was stealing."
I deeply related to this:
"You will sit down to watch your mind for one minute and find, thirty seconds in, that you have already been carried off, and you will not have noticed the leaving, because nobody ever notices the leaving. What we notice is the return. There is a small, unmistakable moment, and you will come to know it well, when you suddenly land back in the room, back in your body, back in the day, with the faint sensation of surfacing from underwater, and you realize you have been gone, twenty minutes deep in an argument that ended four years ago, or a catastrophe that has not happened and never will. That landing is the moment that matters."
"That moment of returning is not the discovery of your failure. It is the practice succeeding."
I've been discouraged by the innumerable noticings of my forgetfulness, but I see now that my heightened awareness of my shortcomings is actually an indicator that my practices are working.
The leaks are patched up by seeing the patterns and their energy-leaking effects, and taking the corrective action — placing your attention elsewhere and changing the behavior patterns. Meditation, breathwork, etc. are wonderful for building the awareness and acceptance of these things.
However, this isn't a talk therapy group whose work is finished at mere awareness. We integrate. There’s still the step of literally changing how I act and how I move through life. That’s where I’m at. The first step is complete and awareness has come: realizing that the reason I'm not moving forward in life is because I don’t have the energy to. Not because I don't have access to the Spring, but because I don't have a vessel that can effectively hold it.
I'm constantly pissing away the bounteous energy freely given me. How about you? You may not be as solid as you think. Like me, you’re probably a fucking colander, not a sealed jar. I'm tryna go from a colander to a jar. Who else?
I hope this image is as helpful for you as it has been for me. Would highly recommend just looking at and contemplating these images.
