You have official permission to:
  • Skip the family dinner where someone will definitely say "have you tried being more consistent?"
  • Let the dishes sit. The dishes will survive.
  • Order pizza again. You kept a human alive today. That counts.
  • Cry in the parking lot before you go in. Cry in the parking lot after. Trust me, that parking lot has seen things.
  • Say "I don't know" to your kid's doctor without feeling like you failed a test you didn't even know you were taking.
  • Go to bed at 8:30pm and feel zero guilt about it.
  • Tell exactly one person what's actually going on instead of saying "we're hanging in there."
This is not a self-care lecture. This is just a reminder that you are doing a genuinely hard thing, and you are allowed to be human while you do it.
What's on your permission slip today?
